FYP 1 (Week 14)

For this week, Madam Azliza has checked plagiarism and similarity for my report. The total similarity index for my report from Chapter 1 to Chapter 3 is 13%. Therefore, this week I have spent a lot of time to do the format for this report before I have to send it next week. Furthermore, I have also started writing and preparing an abstract for this project.

Development of Wind Speed Monitoring System using Microcontroller and IoT

Abstract

The wind has a huge impact because it influences both the temperature and the rain. Natural disasters such as storm, which can cause property damage and even death, are especially dangerous in coastal areas. User and local residents cannot identify the early signs of a storm, they suffer problems when they learn about the existence of strong winds too late. Generally, they only can notice the effects of a storm when there is obvious signs, such as strong winds causing trees to collapse. The main objective of this project is to assist users in constantly monitoring wind speed while also being able to notify if wind speed is at an extreme level. Therefore, several objectives must be achieved in order for this project to be successful. This project uses an anemometer that will act as a sensor to measure the speed of the wind. There are 3 pre-set speed levels for the Anemometer Sensor to measure. The anemometer will send a signal to NodeMCU ESP8266 for each detected level. It will receive all data from the anemometer, process it, and then transmit the data signals to the output components, which are the Arduino IoT Cloud, OLED display, and alarm. All of the output components will function as a device that communicates with the user by giving audio and visual information. As a conclusion, by using this project, it is likely that it can help to always monitor the wind speed and also provide early warning through an alert system and notification.

FYP 1 (Week 13)

For this week, I have sent my draft report to Madam Azliza to check for plagiarism and similarity before sending the final proposal report on January 17, 2023. In addition, this week is also the week for Final Year Project 2 students to present about their project. I was asked by Madam Azliza to attend the program to prepare for the Final Year Project 2 presentation that I will go through next semester. While attending the program, I found that there is a project that also uses wind speed as the main component. But the goal of the project is to produce electricity from wind energy.
