FYP 1 (Week 6)

This week, I'll be continuing my research into the Chapter 1 proposal report. I focus on identifying the problem statement and objectives for my project. A problem statement helps someone in understanding the problem, identifying project goals, and outlining the scope of work. The objectives of the project are what I hope to accomplish by the end of it.

Development of Wind Speed Monitoring System using Microcontroller and IoT

Problem Statement

Storms always occur in areas close to the coast and the sea, especially during the northeast monsoon season. Local residents face issues when they learn about the presence of strong winds too late, because local residents cannot detect the early signs of a storm. They only notice the impacts of a storm after there are obvious signs, such as extreme wind causing trees to fall. They will unable to prepare and may suffer property damage and loss of life.

Objectives
  1. To design a wind speed monitoring system using microcontroller and IoT
  2. To develop a wind speed monitoring system using Arduino and Arduino Cloud for data collection
  3. To measure the wind speed and provide information about the changes to users

FYP 1 (Week 5)

On Wednesday of this week, there was a workshop. During the workshop, the lecturer discussed what is required in chapters 1, 2, and 3. For chapter 1, this chapter provides general explanations of what the student will discuss in this research. The introductory part contains several subheadings such as background of the project, problem statement, objectives, significance, scope and limitation of the project. For chapter 2, this chapter discuss the theoretical literature review. A literature review is a survey of academic sources on a particular project topic. For chapter 3, this chapter will describe about the all the steps and components that the student took to designed their project. this chapter contains several subheadings such as block diagram, flowchart and circuit diagram. For fyp 1, students only need to write their proposal report from chapter 1 to chapter 3.

FYP 1 (Week 4)

This week, I did some research on the background of research, the problem statement, the objectives, and the scope of my project. The purpose of this research is to write Chapter 1 of the proposal report. Then I also re-read the journals I found previously to get ideas for chapter 1. Based on the results of the research, Malaysia has four seasons can be distinguished, namely, the northeast monsoon (Figure 1), southwest monsoon (Figure 2), and two shorter periods inter-monsoon seasons (Figure 3).

FYP 1 (Week 3)

For this week, I continue my research to find the journals that madam asked me and I found 4 journals that are related to my FYP. Madam Azliza scheduled a meeting for Tuesday to discuss the journal and to show the blog's format. On the meeting, she asked if there is any changes that related to the FYP title because she need to submit the FYP form. After that, I shows my journals to her and she said she will review them later.

FYP 1 (Week 1)

For week 1, I am doing some research about some of Final Year Projects in the internet. Then, I intend to make a project that related to safety and security which is Smart Home. On Wednesday, I went to see Madam Azliza which is my supervisor for FYP to discuss further about my title. After listening to advice and project suggestions from her, I am interested in project related to Wind Speed Monitoring. Therefore, I did more research about the project proposed by Madam Azliza.

FYP 1 (Week 2)

For week 2, I continue my research on Wind Speed Monitoring and I found the component that use for measuring the wind speed which is Anemometer. Then on Wednesday, there was a briefing about the introduction to FYP for both FYP 1 and FYP 2 students. For the following day, Madam Azliza set a meeting with her FYP students to discuss and to confirm the title for FYP project. Following the discussion, Madam Azliza and I agreed on the final title for my FYP project, which is "Development of Wind Speed Monitoring System Using Microcontroller". Before the meeting was over, she gave me some homework, asking me to find three or more journals that are related to the title of my FYP.
